Pūrva Bhādrapadā is ruled by Aja Ekapāda, the one-footed goat — a fierce form of Rudra. It is the front legs of the funeral cot, the nakṣatra of intense austerity, of the upward fire that consumes ego, of the heat that purifies before passage.
